Ordered, That the use of this Hall be granted to the Rev.
George Smith, on Monday evening next, to deliver a Lecture
on the "Three Maryland Poets."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Purnell submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Jno. S. R. Dennis have leave of absence
until Tuesday next.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Ehlen submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Hon. F. S. Hoblitzell have leave of ab-
sence until Tuesday next, on urgent professional business.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Thomas, of Frederick,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to
introduce a bill providing for the protection of sheep in the
counties of the State of Maryland, and for reimbursing
owners for losses sustained in the injuring or killing of sheep
by dogs.

On motion of Mr. McCreery,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to amend sections 1 and 5, of
Article 6, of the Constitution, relating to State Treasurer,
and providing for the election of said officer by a vote of the
people.

On motion of Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to extend the provisions of the charter of the
Manufacturers' Mutual Insurance Company of Baltimore city.

On motion of Mr. Neill,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Western Maryland Rail-
road Extension Company.

On motion of Mr. Choate,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation to
report a bill to prevent stock from running at large within
two miles of Pikesville, Baltimore county.

Mr. Chapman submitted the following
JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Whereas, Both the marine and inland fisheries of this State
have of late years much deteriorated, and a vast source of food
supply for the people has been greatly injured by causes, the
