removal of which appears to be entirely within the reach of
legislation; therefore,

Be it Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Governor be and he is hereby authorized to appoint
two competent persons whose duty it shall be to inspect the
bay, marine and river fisheries of the State and to report
upon thesame to the General Assembly as soon alter its next
meeting as practicable, suggesting such legislation as may
be most conducive to the protection and improvement of the
said fisheries.

Resolved, That the sum of one thousand dollars per an-
num, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the
same is hereby appropriated to defray the actual expenses of
the said commissioners incurred in the performance of their
duty, to be paid by the Treasurer of the State on the presen-
tation of their accounts when approved by the Governor, out
of any monies in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated.

Resolved, That the commission hereby authorized shall
continue in existence for two years from the date of its ap-
pointment, and shall cease and determine upon the presenta-
tion of its report as herein requited, unless its existence be
further prolonged by future legislative action.

Which were read a first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Morse, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably without amendments,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of the
Powhatan Steamboat Company.

Which was read a second time.

Mr. Morse moved that the bill be read a third time this day
under the provisions of section 27, Article 3, of the Constitu-
tion.
