The bill as amended read a second time.
The House then resumed the consideration of the unfin-
ished business of 11th inst., being the unfavorable report of
the Committee on Inspections upon the bill entitled an Act
to provide for the inspection of ground Black Oak Bark, de-
signed for exportation from Baltimore city.
The unfavorable report of the Committee was then adopted.
On motion of Mr. Gatch, (the rules being suspended,)
The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to appropriate a sum of money, to be expended
in removing the remains of the Confederate dead, now lying
in Frederick county, in this State, to Mt. Olivet Cemetery
adjoining the City of Frederick, and for the erection of
head stones to the graves of said soldiers, so as to perma-
nently mark and designate the same.
Said bill being upon a second reading,
The bill was then read a second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.
On motion of Mr. Wootton,
The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill enti-
tled an Act to incorporate the town of Laurel, in Prince
George's county.
Said bill being upon a second reading.
Mr. Mar bury submitted the following amendment:
Strike out section 2, and insert: and be it enacted, that the
limits of said town shall begin at a point on the Patuxent
River a quarter of a mile below the railroad, thence within
said river to Watkins' Branch, to Talbott River, or Crown
Branch, then South-easterly with the said Talbott River or
Crown Branch to a point on said run one-quarter of a mile
beyond and across the Washington Branch of the Baltimore
and Ohio Railroad, thence northerly in a straight line to
the place of beginning.
The amendment was adopted.
Mr. Marbury submitted the following amendment:
Add to section 10 : and the President of the Board of Com-
missioners shall exercise the same powers as Justices of the
Peace of the State for the enforcement of the same.
