Mr. Thomas, of Frederick, presented the petition of Os-
bourn Beck, R. P. T. Dutrow and twenty-five other citizens
of Frederick county, praying the passage of a law for the
better protection of sheep.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Ritter presented the petition of Jesse Taylor, praying
for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Woolford presented the petition of Joseph E. Win-
gate, L. A. Insley and thirty-six other citizens of Dorchester
county, praying the repeal of the present law requiring the
inspection of wood.

Also

The petition of Wm. Stappleford, W. L. Schley, Levin
Adams and fifty other citizens of Dorchester county, praying
the repeal of the present law requiring inspection of wood.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Inspections.

Mr. Bowlus presented the petition of J. J. Caller, M. T.
Rice and twenty other citizens, praying the passage of a law
for the better protection of sheep.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Watkins presented the petition of Jas. H. Stone and
sundry others, to the General Assembly of Maryland, for the
protection and promotion of sheep raising.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

On motion of Mr. Carroll,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Carroll, Merrick, McLane,
Marbury and Kilbourn, to report a bill providing for chang-
ing section 14, of Article 3 of the Constitution of the State
of Maryland, fixing the time of meeting of the Legislature,
and proposing annual sessions thereof.

Also,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Carroll, Merrick, McLane,
Marbury and Kilbourn, to report a bill providing for chang-
ing section 15, of Article 3 of the Constitution of the State
of Maryland, limiting the time of the sessions of the Legis-
lature, and proposing sessions of ———— days in length.
