ments, to introduce a bill to authorize the Shenandoah Val-
ley Railroad Company, of West Virginia, to construct their
Tailroad to Hagerstown, and to form a junction with the
Western Maryland Railroad at said town.

On motion of Mr. Biddle,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary, to
introduce a bill to prevent prize fighting within the limits of
the State of Maryland.

On motion of Mr. Baldwiu, of Anne Arundel,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary, to
introduce a bill to repeal section 164, Article 30, Code of
Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Punishments," and
to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Neill,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary, to
introduce a bill to legalize the official charges of Justices of
the Peace made since April 1st, 1869.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judici-
ary, reported

A bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act entitled
an Act to aid and encourage enlistments into the Maryland
Regiments in the service of the United States, passed at Jan-
uary session, 1864, chapter 15, and the several amendments
and supplements thereto, and to repeal section 9 of the Acts
of 1868, chapter 235, and asked to be discharged from the fur-
there onsideration thereof.

The Committee was discharged.

Mr. Brattan moved to refer the bill to the Committee on
Claims.

Decided in the negative.

The bill was then referred to the Committee on the Militia.

Also favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 13, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Landlord and Tenant," sub-
title "Distress for Rent," and re-enact the same with an
amendment,

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Harrington, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the County
Commissioners of Dorchester county, to build a Bridge over
