Thomas, of Frederick. Bowlns, McCreery, Ritter, White,
Baldwin, of Harford, Streett, Tiopkins, Hardcastle, of Caro-
line, Garey, Sanner, Hamilton, Cooper, Morse, Blake, Webb,
Wilson, of Baltimore city, Wiley, McLane, Colton, Kirk,
Gollins, Ehlen, Gardner, Markland, Marshall, Hoblitzell,
Neill, Welty, Murdock, Sword, Seibert, Hilton, Veitch,
Watkins, Kean, Wilson of Allfgany, Standish, Myers,
Percy, Shower, Jordan, Winters, Crouse, Gorman, Craw-
ford, Gordy—82.

The Chairman then announced that the Joint Assembly
would now proceed to the election of a Police Commissioner
for the City of Baltimore, for the full term of four years,
from 15th of March, 1871.

The Joint Assembly then proceeded to ballot.

Upon counting the ballots, Mr. Malone, on the part of the
tellers, reported that

John W. Davis had received...............52 votes.

Samuel G. Miles " ............... 5 "

Wm. H. Owens " ............... 1 "

Wm. H. Jillard ' ............... 2 "

Thomas W. Morse " ...............47 "

Total number of votes cast..........107

Whereupon the Speaker declared that no person having
received a majority of all the votes cast, the Joint Assembly
would proceed 10 another ballot.

Mr. Brattan withdrew the name of Samuel G. Miles.
Mr. Hamilton withdrew the name of Wm. H. Jillard.
The Joint Assembly then proceeded to another ballot.
Upon counting the bailors,

Mr. Malone, on the part of the tellers, reported that
there had been twenty-four votes cast on the part of the Sen-
ate, and eighty-three on the put of the House, of which

John W. Davis had received...............51 votes.

Wm. H. Owens " ............... 1 '

Thomas W. Morse " ...............55 "

Total number of votes cast..........107

Whereupon it appearing that the Hon. Thomas H. Morse
bad received a majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman de-
