clared the Hon. Thomas H. Morse duly elected Police Com-
missioner for the term of four years, from the expiration of
the term of the present Board of Police Commissioners.

On motion of Mr. Snyder,

The Joint Assembly then adjourned.

Mr. Wootten moved that the House do now adjourn.

Decided in the negative.

On motion of Mr. Watkins,

At 2 3/4o'clock, P. M., the House took a recess until eight
o'clock this P. M.

NIGHT SESSION.

THURSDAY, March 10th, 8 o'clock. P. M.
The House met.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Anne's, Brown, Dennis, Purnell, Thomas, of Frederick,
Bowlus, McCreery, White, Baldwin, of Harford, Hardcastle,
of Caroline, Garey, Sinner, Morse, Blake, Wiley, McLane,
Colton, Kirk, Markland, Hoblitzell, Neill, Welty, Murdock,
Sword, Seibert, Veitch, Watkins, Kean, Wilson, of Alle-
gany, Myers, Percy, Shower, Jordan, Winters, Crouse, Mer-
rick, Gorman, Crawford, Gordy—64.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills :

A bill entitled an Act to extend the charter of the Pow-
hatan Steamboat Company.

Which was read a first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.

Also,

A bill entitled a supplement to an Act, entitled an Act for
founding a College at Chestertown.

Which was read a first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Ways and Means.

Also,

Returned the Joint Resolutions authorizing the Governor
to appoint a committee to examine the property, condition,
&c.j of the State cattle scales, and report thereon.
