The petition of Geo. L. Stevens, John H. Bramble, John
N. Moore, Arthur Saxton and other citizens of East New
Market and vicinity, praying the passage of a law to prohibit
the sale of all kinds of intoxicating drinks as a beverage in
or within four miles of said town.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Also,

The petition of Wm. Dayton, Sam'l N. Moore, E. R. Jones,
T. W. Hurly and other citizens of Elliot's Island, in Dor-
chester county, praying the passage of a law to divide district
No. 10, in said county, the new district to be called Elliot
Island district of said county.

Which was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.

Mr. Woolford presented the petition of Wm. M. Travers.
Thos. H, Keene, J. L. Patterson and 70 other citizens of dis-
trict No. 4, in Dorchester county praying the passage of a
law for the better protection of oysters in said district.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Blake presented the petition of John Ullerich, asking
for a bounty.

Also,

The petition of Wm,. Fowler, asking for a bounty.

'Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Claims.

Mr. Brown presented the petition of R. E C. Downes and
100 other citizens of Queen Anne's county, for a charter for
the Church Hill Tide Water Canal Company.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That a Committee of three be appointed by the
Speakervirom the Committee on Public Buildings, whose duty
will be to wait on Hon. T. Swann and obtain his evidence in
connection with the building of the Governor's Mansion.

Which was adopted.

A,nd Messrs. White, Baldwin, of Harford, and Cooper
constituted said Committee.

Mr. Wiley submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Messrs.
Gardner and Marshall are absent on account of sickness.

Which was adopted.
