Said bill being upon a second reading,

The question recurring upon the following amendment
submitted by Mr. Brattan on Saturday 26th inst.:

Sec. 1, line 3, insert the word "or," between the words
"cotton and woolen," and strike out the words "or other,"
in the same line,

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel, moved that the further

consideration thereof be postponed and the bill made the order
of the day for Friday next, March 4th.

Decided in the negative.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel, moved that the further
consideration thereof be postponed, and that the bill be made
the order of the day for to-morrow, Tuesday, at 1 o'clock
P. M.

Decided in the negative.

The question then recurring upon the amendment submit-
ted by Mr. Brattan,

It was adopted.

Mr. Watkins submitted the following amendment:

Strike out, in line four, the words, "of this State," and
insert the words : Of Howard and Baltimore counties.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Lankford submitted the following amendment:

Strike out the first section.

Which was rejected.

Mr Brattan submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 2. Insert the word "or," between the words, "cotton

and woolen," and strike out the words "or other," in the sec-
ond line of said section.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Neill submitted the following amendment :

Strike out the words, "or permission."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Neill submitted the following amendment:

Strikeout the words, "knowingly permit."

Which was rejected.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel, submitted the following

amendment:

Strike out all after the word "any," in line 1, section 2,
and substitute therefor the following :

Parent or guardian shall, after the time at which this
law shall go into operation, require or permit his or her
child or ward, under the age of sixteen years, to work in
any cotton or woolen factory of this State, for more than
