of your Honorable Body, to proceed to an election for State
Treasurer on Tuesday, the 18th instant, at 12 o'clock
meridian.

Mr. Streett (the rules being suspended) submitted the fol-
lowing message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

Jan'y 13, 1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received the message from your Honorable Body
proposing to go into the election of State Treasurer on Tues-
day next, at 12 o'clock M., and concur therein.
By order,

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be placed on the journal that Mr. Morso
is absent from his seat in consequence of urgent business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Cameron (the rules being suspended) submitted the
following order:

Ordered, That Columbus I. Shipley, of Baltimore county,
be excused from service on the Committee to examine the
Maryland Penitentiary, and that the Chair appoint one in
his stead.

Which was adopted,

And Mr. Turner appointed on said Committee.
Mr. Hopkins moved that the House do now adjourn.
Decided in the negative.

Mr. Meekins (the rules being suspended) submitted the
following order:

Ordered, That the officers of this House, except the Chief
Clerk and Reading Clerk, receive a per diem of three dollars
per day in lieu of the amount usually allowed such officers.

Which, was read.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundcl, moved that the order be
referred to the Committee on Claims.
