The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to ap-
point an additional Justice of the Peace for the 2d Election
District of Frederick county, being upon a second reading,

Mr. McCreery submitted the following amendment:

Amend section I, line 4, by striking out the word " an,"
and inserting the word two, and also in line 6, the word
" an," and inserting the word two.

Which was adopted.

The bill was then read a second time and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Kilbourn,

The vote by which leave was granted to the Calvert dele-
gation, and Mr. Loker, of St. Mary's, to introduce a bill
to protect the fish in the waters of the Patuxent River and its
tributaries, was reconsidered, and,

On motion of Mr. Kilbourn

Said leave was then referred to Messrs. Baldwin, of Anne
Arundel, "Wootton, Duke, Loker and Chapman.

Mr. Martin (the rules being suspended) submitted the fol-
lowing order:

Ordered, That a Committee of three be appointed by the
Speaker, to enquire into the practicability of adopting some
plan by which this Hall can be better ventilated.

Which was adopted.

And Messrs. Martin, Markland and Blake constituted said
Committee.

Mr. Harringtou (the rules being suspended) submitted the
following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Geo. J. Meekins be excused from serving
on the Committed on Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries,
and that the Chair appoint another member in his place.

Which was adopted.

And Mr. Woolford appointed upon said Committee.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

Jan'y 12, 1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received from your Honorable Body a message
proposing, with the concurrence of the Senate, to proceed to
the election of a State Treasurer on Thursday, the 13th inst.,
