Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
en Education.

Mr. Thomas, of Queen Anne's, presented the petition of
J. G. Walls, Stephen E. Brady, W. H. Neal. and 104 others,

citizens of Queen Anne's county, asking for a stay law. ,

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel county, presented the peti-
tion of Thomas C. Brown, asking for a pension for Henry
Brown, a soldier of the war of 1812.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Purnell presented the following petitions:

The petition of George W. Vandorn and others, praying
the passage of a law protecting fish in Synapuxent Bay, in
Worcester county.

Also,

The petition of John 8. Purnell and others, for the pas-
sage of a law protecting Prairie Chickens in Worcester

county.

Which were severally read and referred to Messrs. Pur-
nell, Dennis and Lanktord.

Mr. Neill presented the petition of Smith & Byers, S.
Ogilby and 88 other merchants of Hagerstown, against the
passage of a law requiring non-resident traders to take out a
license to transact business in the counties of this State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways

and Means.

Mr. Streett presented the petition of the Clerk of the
County Commissioners of Harford county, asking compensa-
tion for services rendered by order of the House.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Choate presented the following petitions :

The petition of Thomas Dixon, S. R. Dixon and 25
others, praying for the passage of an Act authorizing the
Commissioners of Baltimore county to levy a sum of money
for the construction of a bridge at Mount Washington, in
said county.

Also,

The petition of Atwood Blunt and L. L. Offutt and 52
others, praying for the removal of the county seat of Balti-
more county from Towsontown to the Almshouse property of
said county.
