Decided in the negative.

The House then resumed the consideration of the bill,.

Pending which,

Mr. Watkins, by unanimous consent, submitted the fol-
lowing order:

Ordered, That after Friday next, the 25th instant, this
House will meet in regular session at 11 o'clock, A. M.

Which was read and laid over under the rules.

On motion of Mr. Ehlen,

At three o'clock and ten minutes, P. M., the House ad-
journed until to-morrow at 12 o'clock, noon.

THURSDAY, February 24, 1870.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Swope.

Harris, Baldwin, of Harford, Streett, Hopkins, Hardcaf.tle,
of Caroline, Garey, Hamilon, Cooper, Morse, Blake, Wilson,
of Ballimoie city, Wiley, McLane, Colton, Kuk, Colling,
Ehlen, Gardner, Markland, Marshall, Hoblitzell. Neill,
Welty, Mnrdock, Sword, Seibert, Hilton, Veitch, Watkins,
Kean, Wilson, of Allegany, Standish, Myers, Shower, Jor-
dan, Winters, Crouse, Merrick, Gorman, Crawford, Gor-
dy—77.

Mr. Beck presented the following petitions :

The petition of J. C. Taylor, J. W. Crew and other citi-
zens of Kent county, asking for a modification of the present
school system.

Also,

The petition of Augustus Vannort and others, of Kent
county, praying a modification of the present school system^
