Mr. McCreery presented a memorial from the President and
Directors of the Frederick and Spout Spring Turnpike Com-
pany, asking leave to erect an additional gate and raise the
toll on said road.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Markland submitted the following order:

Ordered, That F. S. Hoblitzell have leave of absence for
one day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. M'errick submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Governor be requested to communicate
to this House any correspondence he may have had with the
Executives of other States in regard to rendition of fugitives,
from justice, which may have been refused upon his requisi-
tion.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wiley submitted the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 13, 1870.

Gentlemen of the Senate:

In pursuance of an Act passed at January session, of 1867V
of the General Assembly of Maryland, we propose, with the
concurrence of your Honorable Body, to go into an election
for three Commissioners of Police, on Thursday, Jan. 20th
1870, at 12 o'clock, M.

You are requested to be present in the Hall of the House
of Delegates, on Thursday, 20th day of January, to proceed
to such election.

Chief Clerk.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Sanner,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to repeal sections one hundred and seventy-
nine, and one hundred and eighty, of Article thirty, of the
Code of Public General Laws, relating to Sabbath-breaking,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Loker,

Leave was granted the Committee on Claims to report a
bill for toe relief of Jno. R. Robertson, late Sheriff of Charles
county.
