So the Senate amendment was adopted.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following:
message:
BY THE SENATE,
February 15th, 1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
In view of the expected arrival, on Thursday next, in the
harbor of Annapolis, of Her Majesty's ship " Monarch,"
and as an evidence of our desire to exhibit that respect for
her officers which is felt throughout the State, we propose,
with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, the appoint-
ment of a Joint Committee, to consist of two on the part of
the Senate and three on the part of the House, who shall
take into consideration and report what action should be
taken by the General Assembly to testify our appreciation of
their distinguished services.
We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Henkle and Earle.
By order,
AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,
Secretary.
