Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. McLane presented the following petitions :

The memorial of the Trustees of the Maryland College of
Pharmacy.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Also,

The petition of the Trustees of the Catholic Cathedral
Church of Baltimore.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. White presented the petition of Peter Hawver and 191
others, praying the passage of a law for the better protection
of Wild Fowl in Frederick county.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
that subject.

Mr. Garey presented the petition of W. J. Duhadnay, Silas
Sparklin and 118 others, asking the passage of a law pro-
hibiting the sale of spirituous liquors in the third election
district of Caroline county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Kean presented the petition of 42 property holders in
the City of Cumberland, protesting against the passage of a
law authorizing the Mayor and Council of said city to increase
the amount of the annual levy of the taxes in said city.

Which was read and referred to the Allegany delegation.
Mr. Owings submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Calvert county be represented in the Com-
mittee on the Chesapeake and its tributaries, by adding to
said Committee a member from said county.

Which was adopted, and

Mr. Owings appointed on said Committee.

Mr. Owings submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this House,
that James J. Duke is absent from his seat on account of
sickness.

Which was adopted.
