of the parties failing to act, and the remaining
twelve shall constitute the jury, and the sheriff
shall qualify the twelve jurors either by oath or
affirmation, as the case may be, justly, truly and
impartially, to estimate the value of said land or
water rights, and the damages supposed to be sus-
tained by said owner or owners of the land jr
water rights required; and the said jury, in esti-
mating the damages sustained by the owner or
owners, shall take into the estimate the benefits
resulting to the said owner or owners, but only in

and the said jury shall reduce their verdict to
writing, and sign and seal the same, and it shall
then be returned by the Sheriff to the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County, and if no
good and sufficient reason shall be shown against

the term next succeeding the return of said ver-
dict; but if the said verdict shall be set aside by
the Court, the said Court shall then direct another
inquisition to be held in the manner before de-
scribed, and when the verdict is confirmed and the

their agents or representatives, or paid into the
said Court, the said Company shall be entitled to
the interest and estate in the same as fully as if
conveyed by the owner or owners, and the said
verdict shall be recorded among the land records

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That the present
bridge or causeway over the said narrows shall not
be removed, demolished or interfered with so as to
hinder, delay or impede travel over the same until
said new bridge is completed and ready for use, or
in case the said Company shall desire to use the
site and material of the present bridge or cause-
way until the Company shall give to the County
Commissioners for Queen Anne's County satisfac-
tory and ample security by bond, or otherwise, in
the option of the said Commissioners, of the ability
and readiness of said Company to build and com-
plete said bridge in some short time, and that said
bridge shall be erected and completed in the time
named, and in the meantime to provide safe and
ample conveyance for all passengers, vehicles, &c.,
across said narrows.
