hundred and fifty feet (5,250); south sixty-eight
and a-half degrees; east forty-one hundred and
fifty feet to a bounded white oak, then south
twenty-one and a-half degrees, west five thousand
two hundred and eighty feet (5,280), to corner of
bridge pier on Virginia line, opposite lower end of
Hominy Island, then up and with said line to the
beginning; and the property within said limits
shall be subject to such taxes and charges as may
be deemed necessary by the said Commissioners,
or a majority of them, to support and maintain
the expenses which may at any time be incurred
in the improvement of said town.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 454.

AN ACT making appropriations for the support of
the Government for the year ending on the first
day of January, eighteen hundred and seventy-
one.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for the expenditures in the sup-
port of the Government for the year ending the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and seventy-
one, the following sums of money, or so much
thereof as may he necessary, be and the same are
hereby appropriated, that is to say :

State officers.

FOR STATE'S OFFICERS.
For the salary of the Governor of Maryland,
four thousand five hundred dollars; for the salary
of the Secretary of State, two thousand dollars;
for the salary of the Comptroller of the Treasury
Department, two thousand five hundred dollars;
for the salary of the Chief Clerk to the Comptrol-
ler, sixteen hundred dollars; for the salary of the
two assistant clerks to the Comptroller, twelve
hundred dollars each, (two thousand four hundred
dollars;) for the salary of the Treasurer, two
