Delegates; and that the doorkeepers, folders, and
pages shall be under the supervision of, and control
of the sergeant-at-arms of the House of Delegates.

 

Of the Senate: one secretary with a per diem of
ten dollars, one reading clerk with a per diem of
ten dollars, one journal clerk and one sergeant-at-
arms, per diem each five dollars; two committee
clerks, per diem each five dollars; one folder, one
doorkeeper and one page, per diem each four dol-
lars; one janitor (to be appointed by the President
of the Senate) who shall be keeper of the Senate
chamber and the rooms adjoining, and lamplighter
for the same, with a per diem of five dollars, and
a chaplain or chaplains with such compensation as
the Senate may determine.

Of the House of Delegates, one chief clerk and
one reading clerk, per diem, ten dollars each;

and one engrossing clerk, per diem, six dollars;

one Journal clerk, per diem, eight dollars; one
sergeant-at-arms, per diem, five dollars; four com-
mittee clerks, per diem, five dollars each; one
janitor, (to be appointed by the Speaker of the
House,) who shall be keeper of the hall of the
House of Delegates and of the rooms adjoining,
and be lamplighter for the same, with a per diem
of five dollars; two folders, two doorkeepers and
two pages, with a per diem of four dollars each;

one keeper of documents, who shall also be mes-
senger to the printer, (to be appointed by the
Committees on Printing of the Seriate and House
of Delegates,) with a per diem of four dollars;

and a chaplain or chaplains, with such compensa-
tion as the House may determine.

There shall be one postmaster for the two Houses
of the General Assembly, with a per diem of five
dollars, (to be appointed by the President of the
Senate and Speaker of the House of Delegates,)
who shall be required to give bond in the penalty
of six thousand dollars, payable to the State of
Maryland, and conditioned for the faithful per-
formance of the duties of his office, with such se-
curity as may be approved by the President of the
Senate and Speaker of the House of Delegates,
and it shall be the duty of the postmaster to ren-
der monthly accounts to the Committee on Claims
of the number and value of stamps purchased by
