CHAPTER 411.
AN ACT to add additional Sections to Article
sixty-nine of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled "Officers," regulating and prescribing
the number and compensation of Officers of the
Senate and House of Delegates, and repealing
Acts inconsistent therewith.

Officers of
Senate and
House.
|
13. The officers of the Senate and House of Dele-
gates shall be as follows, with such compensation
as is hereinafter provided, and it shall not be law-
ful for the Senate and House of Delegates to in-
crease the number or compensation of their officers,
while this Act continues in force, but the Presi-
dent of the Senate or Speaker of the House of Dele-
gates, when the work of their respective Houses
cannot be performed by the regularly appointed
officers in the time required, may appoint an addi-
tional officer or officers pro tempore, with such
compensation as may be right and proper; pro-
vided, it shall not exceed that herein allowed offi-
cers with like duties. And that the clerical force
of the Senate shall be under the supervision and
control of the Secretary of the Senate, who shall
assign to them their respective duties and enforce
the proper performance of the same; and in case
of the neglect or improper performance of their
duties by said officers, the Secretary shall report
the same to the President of the Senate. And
that the doorkeepers, folders, page and messenger
shall be under the supervision of and control of
the sergeant-at-arms of the Senate.

And that the clerical force of the House of Dele-
gates shall be under the supervision and control of
the chief clerk of the House of Delegates, who
shall assign to then) their respective duties and
enforce the proper performance of the same, and in
case of the neglect or improper performance of
their duties by said officers, the chief clerk shall
report the same to the Speaker of the House of
