320 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 11,

Purnell, Thomas, of Frederick, Bowlus, McCreery, Ritter,
White, Harris, Baldwin, of Harford, Streett, Hopkins, Hard-
castle, of Caroline, Garey, Sanner, Hamilton, Cooper, Morse,
Blake, Webb, Wilson, of Baltimore city, Wiley, McLane,
Colton, Kirk, Collins, Ehlen, Gardner, Marshall, Hoblit-
zell, Neill, Sword, Seibert, Veitch, Watkins, Kean, Stand-
ish, Myers, Percy, Shower, Jordan, Merrick, Gorman,' Craw-
ford, Gordy—76.

The Speaker laid before the House the Report of the
County Commissioners of Talbot county, in reference to
county expenses.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
that subject.

Also,

The memorial of the Maryland Industrial School for girls.

Which was read, and

On motion of Mr. McLane,

Referred to a Select Committee of one from each county
and Legislative District of the City of Baltimore.

The Speaker announced the following as said Committee :

Messrs. McLane, Martin, Beck, Wells, Owings, Chapman,
Shipley, Hammond, Brattan, Meekins, Richards, Wootton,
Brown, Purnell, White, Streett, Hardcastle, of Caroline,
Ehlen, Webb, Murdock, Watkins, Percy, Grouse, Gorman,
Crawford.

Mr. Wilson, of Baltimore city, presented the petition of
Wm. Platt, Michael Ward, Thomas Leonard, and 47 others,
for the removal of the North-eastern Hay Scales in the City
of Baltimore.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Gordy presented the petition of James Laws, Levi
Duncan, and 112 other citizens of Wicomico county, protest-
ing against the levy by the County Commissioners of said
county, of a sum to erect public buildings in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Wicomico delega-
tion and Mr. Brattan.

Mr. Kean presented the petition of 120 citizens, merchants,
and property holders of the City of Cumberland, protesting
against the enactment of any law to authorize the Mayor
and Council of Cumberland to increase the levy on property
in said city.

Which was road and referre.l to the Allegany delega-
tion.
