Mr. Bowlus presented

The petition of John C. Hagan, John Goldsborough and
20 other citizens of Frederick county, praying the appoint-
ment of an additional Magistrate to be located at Fair View-
in said county. ,

Which was read and referred to the Frederick delegation.

Also,

The petition of C. F. Wenner, H. T. Davis and 100 other
citizens, praying the passage of a law incorporating a Com-
pany to build a bridge across the Potomac River at Berlin,
in Frederick county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Kean presented the petition of John G. Groves and
10 others, asking for a law to reimburse them for substitute
money paid by them.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Hopkins presented the petition of H. C. Michael,
Thos. J. Sunderland, Wm. A. Courtney and others, asking
that Elizabeth Cole be placed on the pension list.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Duke presented the petition of John H. Bower, for
relief for furnishing a substitute during the last war.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Cooper presented the petition of T. H. Hamilton
and 50 other citizens, asking the passage of a law prohibit-
ing the manufacture of Tin Cans in the Maryland Peniten-
tiary.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Manu-
factures.

Mr, Hardcastle, of Caroline, presented the petition of W.
B. Massey,- J. P. Manton and 20 others, praying for a law
to authorize the Town Commissioners of Greensborough, to
appoint additional officers.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr, Gordy submitted the following order :

Whereas Wicomico county, through her delegation,
has reported a bill for the regulation of the Alms-
house of said county, inflicting corporeal punishment, ac-
cording to the precedent of eighteen counties of this State,
