CHAPTER 184.

AN ACT supplementary to an Act for the estab-
lishment of an Academy at Elkton, in Cecil
County, passed at December Session, in the year
eighteen hundred and seventeen.

WHEREAS, by the provisions of Chapter twenty,
Section seven, of the Acts of the General Assem-

 

bly of Maryland, and for the establishment of an
academy at Elkton, in Cecil County, passed at the
December Session, in the year eighteen hundred
and seventeen, the Trustees of the said Academy
are required to meet at least twice in every year;
and, whereas, heretofore, especially in the years
eighteen hundred and sixty-five, eighteen hundred
and sixty-six, and eighteen hundred and sixty-

seven, the said Trustees have failed to meet in
semi-annual stated meetings from time to time, as
by the said Act of Assembly, required for the
transaction of business; and, whereas, doubts may
arise whether the said Trustees have not forfeited
their rights and powers as a corporation, under
and by virtue of said Act of Assembly; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the said Trustees and their
successors be and they are hereby vested with all
the rights, powers and franchises conferred upon
them in virtue of the Act of Assembly aforesaid,
as fully and to all intents and purposes as if their
annual, semi-annual or other meetings had been

regularly held in accordance with the provisions
of the said Act, and that all corporate acts done
or performed by the said Trustees, in pursuance
of the provisions of the said Act of Assembly, be
and the same are hereby made valid and effectual
in law, as fully as if all the said meetings of the
said Board of Trustees had been held at the time
required by the said Act.

Acts legalize

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from and after its passage.
