280 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 8,

Mr. White presented the petition of Mary Fulton, asking
to be placed on the pension list.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Kean submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

February 8, 1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
the appointment of a Joint Committee of Conference upon the
bill to change the name of the Mutual Coal Company, of Alle-
gany county, to that of the Maryland Coal Company, and to
confirm a decree of the Circuit Court of Allegany county
changing said name. We have named on the part of this
House as members of said Committee, Messrs. Kean, Mer-
rick and Ehlen.

Chief Clerk.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Shower submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Win-
ters is absent on account of sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gatch submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that had Mr,
Gatch, of Baltimore county, been present when the vote was
taken upon the passage of the resolutions reported from the
Committee on Federal Relations, rejecting the Fifteenth
Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, he
would have voted in the affirmative.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Choate submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Thomas
B. Gatch was absent from his scat the past week on account
of sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Beck submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that Mr.
Hammond is detained from this House on account of sickness
in his family.

Which was adopted.
