T. Walters, Thomas Symington, E. Stanley Rodg-
ers, John F. McJilton, Stephenson Archer, Ben-
jamin Silver, Thomas E. Bond, M. D.. Robert
Gilmor, Jr., Jeremiah Yellott, James Warden,
Cheney Hoskins and James Silver, and their asso-
ciates, successors and assigns, he and they are
hereby created and made a body corporate, by the
name and style of the Maryland Central Railroad

Company, and by that name shall have succession
and shall be capable in law to hold and dispose of
property, to sue and be sued, to plead and be im-
pleaded, answer and defend, be answered and de-
fended, in any court of law or equity, and in other
places whatsoever, to receive and make deeds and
contracts; to make, have and use a common seal,
and the same to change, alter or renew at plea-
sure, and to generally pass all such by-laws as may
be necessary to regulate its affairs, and do all such
acts as shall be necessary for the transaction of the
business of the Company hereby incorporated;
and the aforesaid Corporation, or a majority of
them may cause books to be open at such times
and places as they may direct, for the purpose of
receiving subscription to the said Capital Stock of
said Company, after having given thirty days'
notice in two daily newspapers of Baltimore city.

Sec. 17. And be it enacted, That if this Railroad
shall not be commenced in ten years from the pas-
sage of this Act, and shall not be finished in eight
years from the time of the commencement, then
this Act shall be null and void.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect and be in force from the date of its pas-
sage.
