CHAPTER 23.
AN ACT to incorporate the convention of the
Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of
Easton.
WHEREAS, a new Diocese of the Protestant Epis-
copal Church, under the name and style of the
Diocese of Easton, has been established within
the State of Maryland, embracing the Counties of

Present style.

the Eastern Shore, viz ; Cecil, Kent, Caroline,
Queen Anne's, Talbot, Dorchester, Wicomico,
Somerset and Worcester, formerly constituting a
part of and embraced within the limits of the Dio-
cese of Maryland; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the persons who now consti-
tute and may hereafter constitute the convention
of the Protestant Episcopal Church in "The Dio-
cese of Easton," shall be and they are hereby in-

corporated and made a body corporate and politic,
by the name of the Convention of the Protestant
Episcopal Church in the "Diocese of Easton,"
and by that name they and their successors to he
elected, appointed and qualified according to the
form and effect of the Constitution of said Diocese,
for the time being shall have perpetual succession,
and by that name be capable of sueing and being
sued in any Court of law or equity in this State,

and shall have and use a common seal, and the
same break, alter and renew at pleasure, and shall
have and exercise such other powers as shall or
may be necessary or proper to carry into effect the
objects of this incorporation.

Authority.
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corpo-
ration shall have the same power and authority
now granted by law to the Convention of the Pro-
testant Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Mary-
land, for like purposes in said Diocese, to take and
hold subscriptions or contributions in money or
otherwise, and the same to invest, manage and
administer for the support of the Episcopate iu
the Diocese of Easton, and for the various religi-
ous or charitable associations now existing or here-
after to exist in the nine Counties of the Eastern
Shore aforesaid.
