less estate any lands, tenements or hereditaments,
rents or annuities, goods or chattels within this
State, by the gift, bargain, sale or devise of any
person, body politic, or corporation capable of
making the same, and to use or lease, mortgage, or
sell and convey the same in such manner as they
may judge most conducive to the interest of the
Methodist Episcopal Church or Society in Chester-
town, and to manage the estate, property, in-
terest and inheritance of the said Church or So-

ciety ; provided, that nothing herein shall author-
ize any sale, mortgage or other disposition of any
property held by them under any instrument pro-
hibiting such sale ; and provided the clear yearly
income from the estate of said Church or Society,
exclusive of collections in the Church, shall not
exceed the yearly sum of twenty thousand dollars.

Proviso.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Trustees
and their successors, or a majority of them or of
their successors, be and they are hereby authorized
and empowered to sell and convey in fee simple, at
any time, to such person or persons, and for such
considerations as they may deem proper, that part
of the lot of land that was laid off for said Church
by the Commissioners appointed by the said act of
eighteen hundred and one, on which the Methodist
Episcopal Church in Chestertown now stands, with
the Church thereon, and the right to light thereto
free from future obstructions within six feet thereof
on the balance of the said lot, and to apply the pro-
ceeds of the sale to the erection of a new Church.

Successors
to sell.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
