The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day,
The House resumed the consideration of the Joint Resolu-
tions in reference to the claim of the State against the Balti-
more and Ohio Railroad.
The question recurring upon the motion of Mr. Hoblitzell,
to substitute the resolutions submitted by him for the resolu-
tions submitted by Mr. Merrick,
Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Ritter, (the rules being suspended,) submitted the fol-
lowing order:
Ordered, That the Governor of the State, with his family,
the Secretary of State, with his family, and the Judges of the-
Court of Appeals of the State, and their families, are hereby
invited to attend the exhibition to be given in this Chamber,
this evening, by the deaf mutes from the State Institute at
Frederick.
Which was adopted.
The following 'bills having passed both branches of the-
General Assembly, were this day submitted to his Excel-
lency, the Governor, for his approval :
An Act, entitled .a Supplement to an Act passed by the-
General Assembly of Maryland, at January session, eighteen
hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four hundred and twenty-
four, entitled an Act to incorporate the Town of Berlin, Wor-
cester county.
An Act entitled a Supplement to an Act entitled an
Act to incorporate the Library Company of the Baltimore-
Bar.
An Act to repeal sections 162, 163, 164, 165, 166,167,
168, 169, 170 and 171, of Article 6, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title, " Caroline County," sub-title, "Roads,"
and to substitute therefor the following.
An Act entitled a Supplement to an Act entitled an Act
to authorize the persons therein named to build a Methodist
meeting-house on the public grounds in Chestertown, in
Kent county, passed at November session, eighteen hundred
and one, chapter thirty-seven.
An Act to repeal section 25, of Article 13, of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title, "Howard County," sub-title,
" Justices of the Peace and Constables," and to re-enact the
same with amendments.
