48 citizens of Kent county, praying that magistrates may

have jurisdiction in cases of assault and battery.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Ritter presented the petition of John Hanson Hilleary,
Thomas S. Lee, P. H. Griffith, Wm. A. Gardner and others,

of Petersville district, Frederick county, praying that no
special interference, be made with reference to the sale of
spirituous liquors in said district.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Wells presented the petition of Eliza Pritchard, of A.
A, county, for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Brown presented the petition of Richard B. Carmi-
chael and other citizens of Queen Anne's county, praying the

enactment of a law authorizing the erection of a bridge and
the removal of obstructions to navigation at the Narrows of
Kent Island, Queen Anne's county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Hardcastle, of Tal-
bot, Hammond and Brown.

Mr. Hoblitzell presented the memorial of Humphrey Myers,
of Baltimore city, proposing to sell three volumes of the Na-
tional Intelligencer.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Li-
brary.

Mr. Hopkins gave notice that he would, on to-morrow, call
up the standing order of the House requiring the daily ses-
sions of the House to commence at 11 o'clock, A. M., for the
purpose of offering an order changing the hour of meeting
to 12 o'clock, noon.

Mr. Thomas, of Frederick, submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Report of the Superintendent of Labor
and Agriculture be referred to the respective Committees as
follows, to wit: So much as pertains to Immigration to the
Committee of Immigration; Inspections, to the Committee
of Inspections; Resources of the Chesapeake and Tributaries,
to the Committee upon Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries, and
the portion upon repairs to Tobacco Warehouses, Hay
Scales, &c., to the Committee upon Public Buildings.

Which was adopted.
