Which was read the first time and referred to the Senators
from Washington, Harford and the 1st legislative district of
Baltimore city.

On motion by Mr. Clarke, it was

Ordered, That no Senator shall speak for more than one
minute on any subject, and not more than once on any sub-
ject under any circumstances whatever.
Mr. Clarke submitted the following message :
BY THE SENATE,

April 4,1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We respectfully ask your Honorable Body to return a bill
entitled an Act for the relief of B. F. May and others for fur-
ther consideration by the Senate..
By order,
A. GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. Snyder submitted the followings:

Resolved, That the thanks of the Senate are due, and are
hereby tendered, to the Hon. Barnes Compton, their Presi-
dent, for the able, impartial and dignified manner in which.
he has discharged the important duties enjoined upon him.

Which was unanimously adopted.
Mr. Malone submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

April 4th. 1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We respectfully request your Honorable body to return to
this body, House bill No. 138, entitled "Chancery," sub-title,
" Jurisdiction," which was this day returned to your Hono-
rable body.

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,
Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of Dele-
gates.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message :
