Mr. drove moved to strike out the enacting clause.
Which was rejected.
Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment :

Amend section 1, under head of "Miscellaneous" by strik-
ing out from the word " serve," in the 2d line, to "unless,"
and insert: until the 1st of January, 1871, or until their
successors shall be appointed and duly qualified.

Which was rejected by yeas and nays, as follows :

On motion by Mr. Spates,

The vote was reconsidered by which the amendment re-
quiring the School Commissioners of Allegany county to be
appointed by the Chief Judge of the Circuit, was adopted.

The question then recurred upon the adoption of the
amendment, and it was rejected by yeas and nays, as follows:
