Mi. Miller, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to whom was referred House bill entitled an Act to amend
chapter 241 of 1867, by inserting an additional section, to be
substituted for section 8, and make the present section 8 to
number section 9, reported it with the following amendment: Strike out all after the word "entitled," in the first line,
and insert the following: An Act to repeal section 7 of the Act entitled an Act to appropriate the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars, or so
much thereof as may be necessary, to the rebuilding of the
hay scales, and the buildings connected with the same, owned
by the State, and situated in the eastern section of the City
of Baltimore, near the intersection of O'Donnell street with
the western line of Baltimore county; to repair, or resupply
the scales, and adapt them to the weighing of live stock, as
well as hay and straw ; to provide such yards for live stuck
as may be necessary ; passed at January session, 1867, chap.
241, and to re-enact said 7th section with amendments. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 7 of the Act entitled "An Act to appro-
priate the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, to the rebuilding of the hay
scales, and the buildings connected with the same, owned by
the State, and situate in the eastern section of the City of
Baltimore, near the intersection of O'Donnell street with the
western line of Baltimore county, to repair, or resupply the
scales, and adapt them to the weighing of live stock, as well
as hay and straw, and to provide such yards for live stock as
may be necessary, passed at January session, 1867, chapter
241," be and the same is hereby repealed, and amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows : SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said Inspector of Hay and Straw shall execute a bond to the State, in addition to
the bond now provided by law to be given by said Inspector,
to be approved by the Comptroller, in the penal sum of
$1,000, conditioned for the full performance of all acts and
things required of him as weigher of live stock at said scales,
and to pay all damages that may be sustained by reason of
wilful omission, refusal or neglect to discharge said duties,
which bond shall be filed with the Comptroller of the Trea-
sury. But said Inspector or Weigher of Hay and Straw for the
said Eastern Hay Scales at Canton, in the City of Baltimore,
shall not be chargeable with the payment of a tax of fifty
dollars for his commission, as required by the Act passed at
December session, 1862, chapter 282, section I, but shall be
chargeable with and pay to the Clerk from whom he receives
bis commission, the sum of ten dollars, ($10,) and no more,
