of Trustees of said University, are hereby authorized and
empowered to use the real estate purchased by the Trustees
for hospital purposes, situated ai the corner of Calvert and
Saratoga streetsi in the City of Baltimore, as a basis of credit
for obtaining, by means of additional ground-rent to be put
upon said property, or otherwise, a sum of money not ex-
ceeding ten thousand dollars, to be used by the University,
with the concurrence and approval of the President of the
Board of Trustees aforesaid, in enlarging the building now
upon the premises, or in erecting an additional building or
buildings for University and Hospital purposes, upon said
premises.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall be in force
from its passage.

The amendment was adopted, and the bill as amended
read a second time.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably a bill entitled an Act to continue
in force an Act entitled an Act for the benefit of the Library
Company of the Baltimore Bar,

Which was read a first time.
Also,

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money for
the purchase of a lot of ground in which to inter the remains
of the Confederate Soldiers who died at Point Lookout, in
St. Mary's county, whilst prisoners of war, during the late
civil strife, and enclose and ornament the same.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably a bill entitled, an Act to repeal section 18,
of Article 16, of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Chancery," and sub-title, "Auditor," and to re-enact the'
same so as to read as follows.

Which was read a first time1

Mr. Morse, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably, a bill entitled an Act passed January ses-
sion, 1867, entitled an Act to authorize the Pennsylvania
Mutual Horse Thief Detecting and Insurance Company, of
York, Pennsylvania, to transact business in the State of
Maryland, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read a first time.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to amend the Act passed March 9th,
