port. On motion by Mr. Earle, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to refund
M. F. O'Neal, the sum of fifty dollars erroneously paid
into the Treasury. On motion by Mr. Wilson, Leave was granted' to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to refund to John D. Bowling and John Bowling
the amount overpaid, by them for storage and outage on
tobacco. On motion by Mr. Wilson, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to intro-
duce abill to refund to D. R. Dyer, former collector of taxes in
Prince George's county, the interest paid to the State on
taxes for 1864 and 1865.
On motion by Mr. Carroll, Leave was granted to the Senators from Howard, Worces-
ter and Cecil counties, to introduce a bill restricting the Com-
missioners of Howard county in the issue of bonds for the aid
of Turnpike Companies. On motion by Mr. Sellman, Leave was granted to the Senators from Montgomery,
Somerset and Calvert counties, to report a bill for the better
protection of owners of Stallions in Montgomery county. On motion by Mr. Malone, it was Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Chesapeake and Ohio
Canal Company is requested to report to the Senate the
amount of revenues received by said Company during the
year 1870. The respective sums received, at each of the
several points of collection; the amount of surplus funds now
in the Treasury of the company, and what disposition has
been made of the same. If deposited in banks, name the
banks, the amounts deposited, in each, and the condition and
terms upon which said deposit were made. Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to whom the
leave was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act appropri-
ating a sum of money to pay Alfred J. Mobray, late collector
of taxes, in Dorchester county, the amount overpaid by him
into the Treasury. Which was read the first time.
