investigate and establish the war claims of the State against.
the United States, and that said Committee have leave to re-
port by bill or otherwise.

On motion by Mr. Spates,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Allegany, How-
ard and Carroll counties to introduce a bill to repeal sections
5 and 6, of the Act of 1864, chapter 121, Public Local Laws.
for Allegany county, relating to the City of Cumberland,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Spates,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Allegany, Howard
and Carroll counties to introduce a bill to amend and con-
tinue in force an Act incorporating the Westernport and
Potomac Railroad Company of Allegany county.

Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to whom
the leave was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to in-
corporate the Wesley Mutual Life Insurance Company of
Baltimore.

Which was read the first time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled a supplement to an Act entitled an Act to
incorporate the Monumental Savings Institution, passed at
the January session, 1868, chapter 125, and to change the
name of said Institution to the Monumental Savings Bank;
to authorize an increase of its capital stock, and to grant
additional powers thereto, reported it without amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to repeal the 7th section of an Act
to incorporate the Baltimore Permanent Building and Land
Society, passed at the January session, 1867, chapter 358,
reported it without amendment.
Said bill was then read. the second time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to add additional sections to Arti-
cle 26, of the Code of Public General Laws, as amended and
passed at the January session, 1868, chapter 471, relating to
corporations, reported it without amendment.

Said bill was then read the second time.

Also, from the same Committee, to whom was referred
House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 112, of the Act
of 1868, chapter 471, relating to the formation of corpora-
tions, and to re-enact said section, reported it without amend-
ment.
