A bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 55, 66, 57, 58, 59,
60, 65 and 73, of Article 15, of the Code of Public Local
Laws, entitled "Montgomery county," sub-title "Rockville,"
and re-enact the following sections in lieu thereof.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Sena-
tors from Montgomery, Somerset and Kent counties.

A bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Cecil county, to build or repair
certain public buildings in said county.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Sena-
tors from Cecil, Howard and Worcester counties.

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 17, of Article 53,
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Landlord and
Tenant," as repealed and re-enacted by chapter 173, of the
Acts passed 1868, exempting certain articles from distress
for rent, and re-enact the following in lieu thereof.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Com-
mittee on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill entitled an Act to aid and assist the Fire Depart-
ment of Hagerstown.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Senators
from Washington, Harford, and the 1st Legislative District
of Baltimore city.

And returned the following Senate bills :

A bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act to
incorporate the Towsontown Railroad Company, passed at
the January session, 1858,

Endorsed, "Passed byyeas and nays with the proposed
amendments."

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

In section 2, line 36, of the printed bill, after the word
" Company," insert, and also the benefits and advantages to
accrue to the owner or owners by the construction of the said
road, as a set-off to the said damages, but only in extinguish-
ment of the claim for damages, and not for the actual value
of the land or other material taken, and after having made a
fair and just offset of the advantages and disadvantages aris-
ing from the construction of the said Railroad, they shall es-
timate and determine what amount of damages has been, or
may be, sustained by the said owner or owners respectively.

Section 2, line 49, of the printed bill, after the word "pre-
scribed, "insert these words: The cost of such second in-
quisition to be in the discretion of the Court.
