from the Clerk to the County Commissioners of Worcester
county, in response to an order of the Senate in relation to
tax on mortgages in said county for 1869. Also, A similar communication from the Clerk to the County
Commissioners of Kent county. Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Finance. The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message: HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
Annapolis, March 2,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate: We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your
Honorable Body, "a joint meeting of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland," on Thursday, March 10th,
instant, at twelve o'clock, noon, in the Hall of the House of
Delegates, to elect a Police Commissioner for the City of
Baltimore, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Lefevre
Jarrett, and to elect acommissioner for the full term of four
years, from March 15th, 1871, as required by Act of Assem-
bly, of 1867, chapter 367.

Mr. Snyder submitted the following message : By TUB SENATE, March 3,1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates: We have received a message from your Honorable Body,
inviting the Senate to meet in joint meeting in the Hall of
the House of Delegates, on Thursday, the 10th instant, at
12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of proceeding to the election
of a Police Commissioner for the City of Baltimore, to fill the
vacancy caused by the death of Lefevre Jarrett, Esq., and
also to elect a Police Commissioner for the term of four years,
commencing on the 15th day of March, 1871, and concur
therein.
