And that the Comptroller may take oral as well as written
proof in the adjustment of said claims. And that the State's
Attorney of Harford county shall stay all legal proceedings
that may have been commenced by him against said late
Sheriff until instructed by the Comptroller how to proceed
in said case.

Which was read the first time, and,
On motion by Mr. Stephenson,
Two-thirds of all the Senators concurring.
Said Resolution was read the second time and ordered to he
engrossed for a third, reading.

Mr. Snyder from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to enable the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to subscribe to the
amount of one million dollars, to the capital stock of the
Valley Railroad Company, incorporated by the State of
Virginia.
Which was read the first time.

Mr. Snyder moved that said bill be read the second time
this day.

The yeas and nays were called as required by section 27,
of Article 3, of the Constitution and appeared, as follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. President, Jump,
Browne, Maddox,
Carroll, Malone,
Clarke, Parker,
Earle, Sellman,
Fields, Snyder,
Henkle, Stephenson,
Henry, Timmons,
Hyland, Welch—18.

NEGATIVE—None.

So two-thirds of all the Senators elected having voted in

the affirmative,

Said bill was read the second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.
The Senate bill entitled an Anatomy Act,
Being upon its second reading,
Mr. Fields submitted the following amendment:
Amend by striking out section 3.
Winch was adopted.

Said bill as amended was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
