erick and Anne Arundel counties, to introduce a bill to create
an additional Justice of the Peace for the eleventh election
district of Baltimore county. On motion by Mr. Henkle, Leave was granted to the Senators from Anne Arundel,
Baltimore and Frederick counties, to report a bill to author-
ize and require the Commissioners of Anne Arundel county
to change the place of holding elections in the eighth elec-
tion district of said county to a more central and suitable lo-
cation. On motion by Mr. Henkle, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to re-
peal section 7 of an Act entitled amendatory of an Act en-
titled an Act to establish and endow an Agricultural Col-
lege in Maryland, passed at the January session of 1866,
chapter 53. On motion by Mr. Henkle, Leave was granted to the Senators from Anne Arundel,
St. Mary's and Calvert counties to report a bill to prohibit
dredging for oysters in the waters of Anne Arundel county. On motion by Mr. Earle, Leave was granted to Senators Earle, Welch and Jump to
report a bill to prevent the erection of gates on the public
roads of Queen Anne's county, and for the discontinuance of
those which now obstruct said roads. Mr. Stephenson, from the Committee on Agriculture, to
whom was referred the Joint Resolutions relating to the cat-
tle scales in Baltimore county, Reported them without amendment.
Said Resolutions were then read the second time.
Mr. Stephenson submitted the following Joint Resolution : JOINT RESOLUTION. Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Comptroller of the Treasury be. and he is hereby au-
thorized to settle and adjust the claims of the State against
William G. Burk, late Sheriff of Harford county, and that
the said late Sheriff be allowed in such settlement for all
claims for fines, forfeitures, or any other account against in-
solvent person or persons from whom the said late Sheriff
failed to collect the money by reason of the inability of the
parties to pay, or because of their absconding from the State
