timore and Reistertown Turnpike Road, between Baltimore
city and Pikesville, and the collection of tolls thereon.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Invalid Deeds and
Detective Proceedings to report a bill to continue in force the
Act of 1868, chapter 317, relating to Constables fees.
On motion by Mr. Malone,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Wicomico, Dor-
chester and Caroline counties to introduce a bill providing
for the assessment of property in Wicomico county.

Mr. Stephenson presented the memorial of 31 citizens of
Harford county, for the regulation of the mode of catching
fish in Bush River.

Which was read and referred to Senators Stephenson,
Miller and Welch.

On motion by Mr. Carroll,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to require the Life Associations of America to de-
posit certain bonds and mortgages with the Comptroller of
the Treasury of the State of Maryland, and to provide for the
better security of the citizens of the State of Maryland.

Mr. Miller asked and obtained leave of absence for Satur-
day and Monday.

On motion by Mr. Malone, it was

Ordered, That the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad
Company report to the Legislature at as early a day as pos-
sible the amount of the capital stock of said Company, by
whom held. and whether the parties in whose names the said
stock stands, are the bona fide owners thereof, and whether
full value has been paid in cash therefor.

Also,

That they report, in full, the receipts of said road for the
past year ending the 1st of February instant, the number of
officers and employees in said Company, their respective com-
pensation, and all the other expenses of said road; and
whether any dividends have been declared, and if so, how
much.

On motion by Mr. Grove, it was

Ordered, That Philip Medders, Messenger of this body,
have a leave of absence for a few days to visit his home.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to whom the
leave was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to pay
