On motion by Mr. Fields,

Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.
On motion by Mr. Henkle,

The further consideration of said bill was postponed until
to-morrow at one o'clock, and mad< the order of the day.
On motion by Mr. Earle,
The Senate adjourned

FRIDAY, February 25,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Browne, Carroll, Clarke, Denson, Earle,
Fields, Grove, Henry, Hyland, Maddox, Malone, Miller,
Sellman, Spates, Stephenson, Timmons, Welch, Wilson—19.
The Journal of yesterday was read and approved.

The President laid before the Senate a communication from
the Clerk of the Commissioners of Talbot county, in response
to an order of the Senate, enclosing the amount of taxes de-
rived from mortgages in said county for 1869.

Also,

A communication from the Clerk to the County Commis-
sioners of Frederick county, in response to an order of the
Senate, enclosing the amount of taxes derived from mortgages
in said county for 1869.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

Mr, Malone presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Wicomico county asking the passage of an Act providing
for the assessment of the property in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Senators from Wi-
comico, Dorchester and Caroline counties.

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill entitled, an Act to amend an Act entitled an Act
to incorporate companies to make several turnpike roads
through Baltimore county, and for other purposes, to author-
ize the laying down and equipment of a Railway on the Bal-
