Mr. Hyland presented the petition of Thomas Kelly, John
Bosnian and other citizens of district No. 2, in Somerset
county, praying the passage of a prohibitory liquor law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Miller presented the petition of James McVey and
Wm. H. Hall, asking for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Biggs presented the petition of Elizabeth Todd, asking
for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Snyder presented the memorial of the managers of the
Maryland Sunday School Union, praying the repeal of the
5th section, of sub-chapter 4, of the Act of 1868, chapter 407,
entitled, ' 'Public Education," and to re-enact the same in the
following amended form.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

On motion by Mr. Maddox,

Leave was granted to Senators Maddox, Earle and Henkle
to introduce a bill to grant additional bounty to the owners
of slaves who enlisted or were drafted in the army of the
United States,

On motion by Mr. Jump,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill to refund to James H. McNeal, late Collector of Taxes-
tor Talbot county, money overpaid into the Treasury,

On motion by Mr. Clarke,

Leave was granted to Senators Clarke, Biggs and Browne,
to introduce a bill defining the lines and boundaries of the
5th election district of Baltimore county.

On motion by Mr. Timmons,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Printing to report
a bill to repeal sections 1 and 4, of chapter 31, of the Code of
Public General Laws, passed January session, 1865, in re-
lation to the publication of Laws.

On motion by Mr. Kimmel,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Baltimore city to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 922, 924,
926 and 927, of Article 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws,
