Mr. Henkle, from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to require the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to take charge of and
keep in repair all Turnpike Roads, Highways and Bridges
within the city limits.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Fields, from the Committee on Agriculture to whom.
the leave was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to
repeal section 7, of an Act entitled an Act to amend Article
4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Guano," and to
re-enact the same in the following amended form.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Parker, from the Select Committee to whom the leave
was granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to repeal sec-
tion 29, of the 5th Article of the Code of Public Local Laws,
relating to the pay of the Crier of the Circuit Court for Cal-
vert county, and to enact a substitute therefor.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Maddox presented the report of the President and
Trustees of the St. Mary's Female Seminary.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Spates submitted the following message:

By THE SENATE,
February 9,1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message proposing the appointment
of a Joint Committee of Conference upon the bill to "change
the name of the Mutual Coal Company of Allegany county,
to that of the Maryland Coal Company, and to confirm the
decree of the Circuit Court for Allegany county changing said
name," and concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, as members
of said Committee, Senators Spates, Henry and Welch.

Which was read, assented to. and sent to the House of
Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Henkle,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the order of
the day.
