man and wife, and who is in needy and indigent circumstan-
ces ; And whereas, By the united energy and industry of the
said Isaac Stewart and Annie Stewart, they accumulated cer-
tain property, not exceeding four hundred dollars, after the
payment of his just debts and costs of administration ; And
whereas, Letters of administration upon the estate of the
said Isaac Stewart, have been granted unto William Stew-
art, by the Orphans' Court; for Somerset county; therefore. Which was adopted. The section as amended was then adopted.
Said bill) as amended, was then read the second time. Mr. Stephenson, from the Select Committee to whom was
referred the House bill entitled an Act to regulate the pay-
ment of the State's donation to the Harford county Acad-
emy, reported it with the following AMENDMENT. Strike out all after the words "a bill," in the title, and
insert the following: Entitled an Act to change the times of paying the State's
donation to the Harford County and Darlington Academies,
from annual to semi-annual payments, SECTION 1. Be it enacted ~by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section three, of an Article to repeal an Act en-
titled "an Act to add a new section to Article twelve," of
the Code of Local Laws of Harford county, entitled "Schools,"
relating to the Harford County Academy, and to the Cokes-
burg or Abingden Academy, and re-enacting the same with
amendments, relating to the State donation to the Harford
County Academy, passed January session, eighteen hundred
and sixty-eight, chapter one hundred and eighty-three, be
and the same is hereby repealed, amended and re-enacted to
read as follows: SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said five hundred dol-
lars herein restored to the Harford County Academy, and
which was theretofore paid annually, shall be paid to the said
Academy in semi-annual payments, of two hundred and fifty
dollars each, out of the Academy Fund of Harford county ;
and the said sums of two hundred and fifty dollars, and one
hundred and fifty dollars, mentioned in the second section
of this Act as belonging to the Darlington Academy, and
making in the aggregate four hundred dollars, and which
was also paid annually, shall be paid to said Darlington
Academy in semi-annual payments of' two hundred dollars
each, out of the said Academic Fund ; and the Treasurer is
hereby authorized and directed to pay, upon the warrant of 11
