now before the Senate. These arms, however, are for the use of able-bodied men,
and, in my opinion, unsuited for the purposes contemplated,
as a lighter character of arms is required for collegiate pur-
poses.

Which was read. On motion by Mr. Snyder, Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill entitled an Act to enable "the Mount Vernon
Manufacturing Company of Baltimore city," incorporated
under Article 26, of the Public General Laws of this State, as.
the same is amended by the Act of January session, 1868„
chapter 421, to conduct its manufacturing operations upon
property by it owned in the City of Alexandria, in the State of
Virginia. On motion by Mr. Malone, Leave was granted to Senators Malone Henry and Fields
to introduce a bill regulating the compensation of witnesses
in Wicomico county. Mr. Miller, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to whom was referred the petition of citizens of Kent county,
praying the passage of a law prohibiting the sale of intoxica-
ting liquors in Still Pond village, and a circuit of two and a
half miles from said village, reported it unfavorably, And the report was adopted. ' Mr. Miller, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to whom was referred House bill entitled an Act to declare
the sanction of the General Assembly of Maryland, to the
bequest or devise of Henry A. Stinnecke, late of Baltimore
city, deceased, to the Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal
Church in Maryland, Reported it without amendment.
Said bill was then real the second time Mr. Miller, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
to whom was referred House bill entitled an Act to change
the name of the Mutual Coal Company of Allegany county,
to that of the Maryland Coal Company, and to confirm a
decree of the Circuit Court of Allegany county, reported it
unfavorably,
