THURSDAY, February 3,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Miller.
Present at roll call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Biggs, Browne, Earle, Fields, Henry,
Hyland, Kimmel, Maddox, Malone, Miller, Sellman, Snyder,
Spates, Timmons, Welch—17.

The Journal of Wednesday was read and approved.

Mr. Clarke presented the petition of Elizabeth Gorsuch,
widow of Stephen Gorsuch, a soldier of the war of 1812, ask-
ing for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

The President laid before the Senate a communication from
his Excellency, Governor Bowie, enclosing the report of the
Commissioners on the part of the State, to the American
Convention of Cattle Commissioners, held at Springfield, III.,
on the first of December, 1868.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

The President laid before the Senate the following com-
munication from his Excellency, Governor Bowie:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,

Annapolis, Feb. 3,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

I have this day signed and transmitted to the Clerk of the
Court of Appeals:

The bin entitled an Act to repeal sections 12 and 15, of an
Act passed January session; 1867, chapter 298, entitled an
Act to incorporate the Pennsylvania Line Railroad Company,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

The President laid before the Senate the following commu-
nication from Adjutant General Bier, in response to an order
of the Senate of the 2d instant :
