On motion by Mr. Carroll, and by unanimous consent, it
was

Ordered, That the Chair be requested to appoint a Com-
mittee of five, who shall take into consideration and report,
at the earliest practicable moment, what action would be
suitable for this Body, in reference to the obsequies of the
late George Peabody, about to be solemnized at Portland, in
the State of Maine.

The President appointed on said Committee Senators Oar-
roll, Henkle, Miller, Kimmel and Henry.

The Chair announced a communication from His .Excel-
lency, Governor Bowie, by the hands of R. C. Hollyday,
Esq., Secretary of State, endorsed,.on "Executive Nomina-
tions."

The bill entitled an Act to amend the Public General Laws
passed at the January session, 1865, chapter 31, so as to ex-
empt Somerset and Worcester counties from the effect of the
second section thereof, so far as relates to the Publication of
the Local Laws,

Was read the second time and ordered to lie engrossed for a
third reading.

On motion by Hyland,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of Executive
Business, and after a time resumed the consideration of Legis-
lative Business.

Mr. Carroll, from the Committee on Militia, to whom the
leave had been granted, reported a bill entitled an Act to
authorize the Adjutant General to furnish arms for the use
of the Maryland Agricultural College.

Which was read the first time.
