Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing messages:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 14,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received, your message proposing that the Com-
mittee on Printing of each House be made a Joint Commit-
tee, with power to contract for the printing, &c., and concur
therein.

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 18, 1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing that the Com-
mittee on the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries, of each
House, be made a Joint Committee, for the purpose of con-
sidering and reporting such alterations and amendments to
the existing Oyster law as may be deemed expedient, and
that said Joint Committee have power to send for persons
and papers, and concur therein.

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 14,1870.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing the appointment
of a Joint Committee of three inembers of the Senate and five
inembers on the part of the House of Delegates, to visit the
reformatory and beneficiary institutions of the State located
in the city of Baltimore and vicinity, including the State
Normal School, and report thereon, and concur therein.

We have appointed on the part of the House of Delegates
Messrs. Carroll, Hammond, Blake, Beck and Turner.

Which were severally read.

The President announced a communication from his Excel"
lency, Gov. Bowie, by the hands of B. C. Hollyday, Esq.,
Secretary of State, endorsed, on "Executive Business."
