Which was read and referred to the Senators from Balti-
more city.

On motion by Mr. Malone,

It was ordered to be entered, upon the Journal that the
Hon. James T. Earle is detained from his seat on account of
sickness.

Mr. Snyder presented the petition of Dr. Nathan R. Smith
and numerous citizens of Baltimore city, asking for the pas-
sage of a law to prevent incompetent persons from engaging-
in the Apothecary business in said city.

Which was read and referred to the Senators from Balti-
more city.

Mr. Wilson presented the annual report of Upper Marl-
boro' Academy.

Which was read and referred, to the Committee on Educa-
tion.

Mr. Biggs presented the petition of citizens of Frederick
county, asking for the incorporation of a Railroad from
Union Bridge, in Carroll county, to the town of Liberty, in
Frederick: county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations,

Mr. Stephenson presented the petition of 36 citizens of
Havre-de-Grace, praying the passage of a law to grant Wil-
liam Barnes, of Harford county, a pension of 180 per annum.

Which was read and referred, to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
On motion by Mr. Biggs,

Leave was granted to Senators Biggs, Clarke and. Maddox,
to introduce a bill to authorize the County Commissioners of
Frederick county to build a new Almshouse, and to borrow
money on the credit of the county for that purpose.

On motion by Mr. Biggs,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to amend an Act entitled, an Act to incorpo-
rate the Emmittsburg Railroad Company.

On motion, by Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to amend, the XVIth Article of the
Code of Public General Laws by adding thereto the following
sections relating to Trustees, appointed by will or by a de-
cree of a Court of Equity, to fill a vacancy in the office of
