MONDAY, January 24,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate.

There being no quorum, the Senate adjourned until to-
morrow, at 12 o'clock.

TUESDAY, January 25,1870.
The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Henderson.
Present at roll call, the following Senators :

Messrs. Biggs, Browne, Carroll, Clarke, Denson, Fields,
Henry, Hyland, Maddox, Malone, Miller, Sellman, Snyder,
Stephenson, Timmons, Welch, Wilson—17.

The President of the Senate being absent from the seat of
Government,

On motion by Mr. Hyland,

The Hon. Henry Snyder was elected President pro tem, of
the Senate.

The Journal of Thursday was read and approved.

Mr. Wilson presented the petitions of Julianna Suit and
William Hilleary, of Prince George's county, asking for a
pension.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

Mr. Maddox presented the petitions of James Howard and
Elizabeth Shanks, of St. Mary's county, asking for a pen-
sion .

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

Mr. Snyder presented the petition of Dr. G. B. Andrews
and 65 others, Pharmaceutists, of Baltimore city, praying the
enactment of a law to prevent incompetent persons from en-
gaging in the Apothecary business in said city.
